Do directors have an obligation to make totally accurate movies based on real events or do they get a pass for fudging some facts to create a better story?
Remember, about the only thing that Oliver Stone got right in JFK was the date on which Kennedy was killed....

Pope Benedict stunning news he will resign
I'm working on a book about the Vatican, so this is big news in my world. Reports say it's been 600 years since a Pope resigned, but those are mostly cases in which two 'popes' claimed the Papacy and one 'resigned' to stop or avoid a war. This is pretty much unprecedented since once elected, Popes - like royal heads of state - serve until they die....

Mega mansion frenzy: Buyer snaps up Pat Riley’s $16M home to level it, rebuild - Real Estate News - MiamiHerald.com
Mega McMansions are back fro the dead in Miami, only 4 years after the 'great crash.' The buyer of this $16 million waterfront home is tearing it down to build something grander. Pasha-style houses are under construction seemingly everywhere. A Russian recently spent $70 million on a trophy home.
Boom and bust. It's in the Miami DNA. And the word 'subtle' was long ago excised from the local dictionary.

Capote Classic 'In Cold Blood' Tainted by Long-Lost Files
A journalist often becomes a victim to his sources. The people who agree to talk to him can form his view of the world. But it's a major problem when it strays from what really happened, what the underlying documents reveal as facts. In Cold Blood is a remarkable book, but it appears it is not the exemplar of a "immaculately factual" account of that chilling 1959 Kansas murder. It's fascinating, IMHO, to watch this story play out over 4 decades later...
